Clay Harris

 

Born in Houston, Tx in 1982. He is the son of Vyrl Harris and the late Jodi Kennedy. He is the oldest of three boys. His younger brother is ex-LSU and current Colorado Rockie Will Harris. Clay is a graduate of Slidell High in 2001 and went on to play for the LSU tigers from 2002 – 2005. His professional career began in June 2005 when the Philadelphia Phillies drafted him in the ninth round.

      Clay’s achievements:

  • 1998 All district, All parish, All state for the Slidell high baseball team. Was named offensive MVP of the team. Set freshman Varsity homerun record with 9 homeruns.

  • 1999 All district, All parish, All metro, All state for the Slidell high baseball team.

  • 2000 All district, All parish, All metro, for the Slidell high baseball team.

  • 2000 American Legion State Champions

  • 2001 All district, All parish, All metro, All state for the Slidell high baseball team.

  • 2001 District MVP, Parish MVP, Metro MVP for the Slidell High baseball team.

  • 2001 Set the career homerun record at Slidell high.

  • 2001 Signed a letter of intent to play baseball at LSU

  • 2002 Hit a grandslam in first at-bat of career at LSU.

  • 2002 Went 3-0 in 49 innings pitched at LSU. Named Freshman All-American.

  • 2002 Valley League Baseball summer league All-Star

  • 2003 Named All-SEC 1st baseman at LSU.

  • 2003 Member of SEC Championship and College World Series team.

  • 2003 Member of the Cape Cod summer league Championship team.

  • 2004 Pre-season All-American at LSU.

  • 2004 Named All-SEC 3rd baseman

  • 2004 Member of College World Series team.

  • 2005 Selected in the 9th round by the Philadelphia Phillies.

  • 2005 Played for the Batavia Muckdogs in the New York – Penn League.

  • 2005 Named a top-prospect for the New York – Penn League.

  • 2006 Won the South Atlantic League Championship as a member of the Lakewood Blueclaws.

  • Led the Blueclaws in homeruns and R.B.I’s

  • 2007 Won the Florida State League Championship as a member of the Clearwater Threshers.
