Brad Cresse
 

 

Born in Long Beach, California in 1978. Grew up in Seal Beach and graduated from Marina High School. Son of Mark and Jean Ann Cresse. Mark was the bullpen coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers for 22 years. Brad is the godson of Hall of Fame Manager Tommy Lasorda. Brad resides in Baton Rouge with his wife Carlie, a Zachary native. Brad has learned how to teach the game of baseball from the best, Mark Cresse. Brad’s dad not only coached in the big leagues, but for 23 years now he has the largest and most reputable baseball camp in southern California. He will make guest appearances at the Big Leagues of Baton Rouge for special occasions. Brad has coached at the Mark Cresse School of Baseball for many years before bringing his teachings to Baton Rouge. He uses techniques and analogies that young players can really comprehend. He specializes in hitting and catching for individual instruction, and is very good at fundamental training and running team practices. He is dedicated to helping every player reach their maximum potential, and his enthusiasm and hard work are top notch.

Brad's Achievements

* 1995 & 1996 USA Jr National Team member that toured Japan, Korea and Australia
* 1996 Selected in the 34th round of the MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers
* 1996 Signed letter of intent to go to Louisiana State University
* 1997 Member of national champion Tiger baseball team
* 1997 Played for the Chatham A’s of the Cape Cod summer league
* 1998 First team all-american catcher hitting 325 with 29 home runs
* 1998 Member of USA team that played in Nicaragua and Italy
* 2000 First team all-american catcher where he hit 389 leading the country with 30 home runs and 106 RBI’s
* 2000 Had the game winning single to beat Stanford to win the College World Series
* 2000 Won the Johnny Bench Award for best collegiate catcher
* 2000 Finalist for the Golden Spikes award
* 2000 Selected in the 5th round of the MLB draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks
* 2000 California league all-star hitting 323 with 17 home runs in just 48 games
* 2000 & 2001 Played in the Arizona Fall League
* 2001 & 2002 Texas League all-star catcher for the El Paso Diablos
* 2002 & 2003 Played in the Dominican Republic winter ball league for the Toros of La Romana
* 2003 Played for the Tucson Sidewinders
* 2004 Traded to the Montreal Expos before spring training
* 2004 Traded to the St. Louis Cardinals the last day of spring training
* 2005 Signed as a free agent back with the Cardinals and played for the Memphis Redbirds
* 2006 Signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers
* 2006 Southern League all-star catcher with the Jacksonville Suns
* Brad has spent five of his six spring training’s with three big league clubs: Arizona Diamondbacks (2001-2003) Montreal Expos (2004) St Louis Cardinals (2005)
* In his career he has caught for all-star pitchers Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson, Chris Capuano, Matt Morris, Mark Mulder and Jason Isringhausen
